Dr. Roy Sasson holds teaching affiliations at Tel Aviv University's school of Economics, and the IDC's school of Business Administration. He has been teaching courses in Econometrics and Data Analysis since 2008.
Roy currently serves as the head of Product Analytics (Composed of the Data Science group and the BI group) at Google/Waze. Prior to his role at Google, he served as the Chief Data Scientist at Outbrain. In his work, Roy designs and applies Machine Learning in production that optimise large scale recommendations systems, in strategic domains such as engagement prediction, user classification, document classification and mechanism design. His work has been presented in international Machine Learning and Business conferences such as WWW, Strata and Recsys.
Roy has a PhD in Applied Econometrics from Tel-Aviv University. His academic research focused on gaining insights and predictions from data concerning the behaviour of individuals, S&P 500 firms and even NBA coaches. Prior to his work at Outbrain, Roy served as the research group lead at Visual Domains.
