BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES

The Foerder Institute for Economic Research was established in 1971 in memory of Dr.Yisyahu Foerder with a donation from Bank Leumi; its objective being to support basic theoretical and applied research in the Department of Economics at Tel-Aviv University.

SCOPE OF RESEARCH

The scope of research covers many areas: the organization of economic activity, game theory, industrial organization, technological change and economic growth, urban and regional economics, labor markets, financial markets, public economics, international trade, monetary economics, and more.

FRAMEWORK AND RESEARCH ASSOCIATES

The Institute's research staff consists of members of the Eitan Berglas School of Economics at Tel-Aviv University. The School has an outstanding international reputation with an excellent coverage of major fields. It features a unique blend of high quality research on economic theory, applied econometrics and policy formulation and evaluation. Its members publish regularly in the best journals, including the American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, Quarterly Journal of Economics, and Econometrica. Their books are published by leading publishers, such as Academic Press, Cambridge University Press, University of Chicago Press, MIT Press, and Harvard University Press. Their work is widely known and plays an important role in the development of several fields. Their graduates occupy important positions in universities and the business community.

WORKING PAPERS

Every working paper reports the results of a particular study undertaken in the institute, be it theoretical, applied, or policy-oriented. The working papers are distributed through an exchange program to other research institutes in Israel and abroad, as well as to university libraries, central banks, government agencies, and similar interested parties in Israel and abroad. Studies of large scope are published in book form.
